LMT (India) Private Limited offers Roughing and Finishing Hob, the newly developed tool system that integrates a single-start roughing hob and a double-start finishing hob on one hob cutter body. This combination of rough and finish milling in one tool allows for short processing times. Pre-cutting tasks with several processing steps using a finishing cutter or special tools are no longer necessary. The roughing hob on the cutter body has an optimum distribution of inserts and a high-speed cutting head. The fundamentally different wear development on the flanks is distributed across individual inserts. Thus, the inserts must be changed much later. In combination with the standard 8x indexable inserts, this tool is therefore very economical to use. The finishing component of the system is a double-start hob with such advantages as reduced manufacturing times, shorter tooling times, and improved surface quality when products are finish-hobbed. Advantages: lower processing costs; approx 25 % improved productivity; standard indexable inserts in the roughening component; longer lifetime of indexable inserts for finishing.
