Guidestrips, hardened & ground
Square Engineering Works manufactures hardened and ground guidestrips. These are available from ready stock of different cross section. These are available in case hardening as well as through hardening manufactured to a high precision. Class 1: These are completely finish ground to specification. Guidestrips can be readily fitted to the machine base, which is also finished surface. Class 11: These are semi-finished guidestrips with an allowance of 0.05 mm per side for finish grinding in assembly. Guidesstrips can be fitted to the moderately finished machine base in single or multiples depending on the length of the slide way and finish ground on slideway grinder. Matched set: if the guidestrips are used in multiples of Class 1, then they should be matched. The end of the guidestrips are ground so that the joints are perfect and can be bolted in series to increase the length of slideway and further slideway grinding is eliminated. The overall accuracy of all slides is 0.005/300. Overall geometry is within 1 0 microns.
