The Electrolab tablet friability tester EF-1W has been designed to meet the increasing demand of the documentation, speed of throughput and ease of operation. It complies with the specifications laid down in current USP and other pharmacopoeias. The design allows the front loading of the drum and the automatic discharging of the samples into the tray located below the drum, without opening or removing the drum from the drive shaft. A 10&176; tilt facility of the drum with the bench top is provided as per USP to avoid the irregular tumbling caused by the shape or the size of the tablets. The test can be performed in two different modes - Time or Revolution Count mode. The time and the revolution counts are programmable. The values once programmed are retained in its memory. Different test parameters like - mode, speed, type of the drum, selection of the weighing scale, print option, etc, can be set. A test report can be printed at the end of the test which includes the friability in terms of percentage weight loss, the test parameters, information about speed and accuracy during the test run and actual time and date on which the test was performed.
