Mumbai-based Shree Engineering Co offers compact flanges and clamped pipe connectors manufactured by Destec Engineering Ltd, UK. These are used by oil, gas and petrochemical industries. These products have full Lloyds type approval to ASME (boiler and pressure vessel as well as chemical plant and petroleum) and ANSI codes. Desflex flanges are designed the same way as ASME standard flanges with similar allowable stresses. They are therefore designed to have the same residual bolt stress when using hydraulic tensioners. This is 25,000lb/in? minimum, ie, a safety factor of 4 on the yield. With some complex designs the bolts are at 85% of yield after make up which means approximately 100% yield when tensioned during make-up. Features: reduced end load means reduced bolt size, smaller PCD and smaller moments, hence thinner flanges; external forces not transmitted through sealing face; spherical nuts prevent flange overstressing during assembly and bolts from bending; large weight saving; cost saving with exotic material; and interchangeable (no male/female parts). Applications: sub sea manifolds, flowlines, risers, valves, vessel flanges and closures.
