SCR Elektroniks has developed a glow-wire apparatus to carry out tests specified in many standards to check the "resistance to fire"in the moulded insulator material parts of electrical accessories, like domestic switches, MCB, ELCB, etc. Testing of the electro-technical products with regard to fire hazard is to create exactly the conditions occurring in practice. However, in most instances, this is not possible. Thus for practical purposes, the testing of electro-technical parts/products are tested with regard to fire hazard by the simulating as closely as possible the actual effects occurring in practice. This test setup does create such simulation as described in the respective IS Code: IS 11000 (Part 2/Sec1) - 1984 and IEC PUB 695-2-1 (1980). It is applicable to switches for domestic and similar purposes as well as other electro-technical equipments.
