Cement industry: globally Flakt Woods is the leader in design and manufacturing of fans for cement plants whose capacities have progressively increased to 10,000 TPD at present. Fans play a major role in every step of cement production from clinker to final grinding. The present trend of increased capacity and complexity of plants have resulted in harsh operating conditions. Flakt's heavy-duty fans offer benefits in the areas of: high efficiency; stable operation; sensitivity to build-up and erosion; variation of speed; resistance to high temperature; wear and erosion resistance; low vibrations. These fans have to face tough operating conditions like varying temperature and speed cycles, erosion and corrosion with high absorbed power between few hundred kilowatts to megawatts. The fans have been customised to function in arduous conditions with: designs to prevent leakage of process air and toxic gases; materials to handle corrosive and abrasive gases; on line cleaning arrangement; designs to withstand material fatigue and steel dust; and deflectors to change the trajectory of particles to reduce surfaces exposed to corrosion.
