In electro magnetic metal forming process, very high stored energy in a capacitor bank is delivered into the job precisely at forming location. Very short period pulse will deliver megawatts of energy into the job. This high energy fast discharging pulse accelerates the flyer (job) at supersonic speed towards the inner member. This impact will attach the flyer to the inside member there by forming a joint. Even with this enormous power input, heating of the job is negligible. It needs no external fluxes or filler material. Different materials can be welded together. The entire operation is a cold process; hence no heat-affected zone is created. This electromagnetic forming system can weld dissimilar metals or metal to non-metals can also be joined.
