These are highly production-oriented work holding devices that utilise the natural strength of spring action of steel to achieve chucking pressure on the periphery of the work. These are mainly used for secondary operation like grinding, boring and facing, etc. Since no moving part is used, clamping forces are uniform and help attain high degree of concentricity, repeatability and accuracy. Loading and unloading is faster. The outer diameter and one face of the work piece must be ground to get satisfactory results. They are made of special alloy steel and are offered in various sizes.
