Creative Micro Systems offers Device Server, CS­DS­S4R1­232/422/485. The CS­DS­S4R1­232/422/485 is a device server that enables serial devices to be connected onto a LAN and connect to legacy applications running on a PC anywhere else on the network. A virtual COM driver – 'CMSSerCom' is provided to allow any application interacting with serial devices over standard COM ports to interface with the serial devices over a TCP/IP network in a transparent manner. This eliminates the distance limitations of standard serial interfaces. For the RS­485 model only: multiple devices can be connected on each of the serial ports and each port is optically isolated for protection purposes and can be individually configured for 2­W or 4­W operation (configured via CMSConfig utility).
The CS­DS­S4R1­232/422/485 is ideally suited to be used in the following environments:
