It is mostly used with wash towers / other process vessels, where process flow governs the diameter. These separators are fitted with a mist pad – a fabricated pad made from symmetrical interlocking loops of knitted metal wire or plastic monofilament. These pads have high free volume and large impingement area. When the gas passes through this pad, liquid having higher inertia gets stuck to the large wire surface. As more droplets collect,they coalesce and grow in size and fall down under gravity. The overhead product is pure gas with virtually no aerosols. Efficiency: 100% (at 10 µ) . 80% (3 to 10 µ). Turn down: 25%
