Coromill 490

Coromill 490

Sandvik offers CoroMill 490, first of a new family of versatile shoulder-mill tools that cut the cost of small/medium batch face and shoulder milling, especially for applications requiring smaller depths of cut. This new tool from Sandvik Coromant offers milling customers lower tool costs and inventories, greater flexibility, higher precision and better tolerances. CoroMill 490 uses four-edge inserts. The four cutting edges ensure economy of operation. Designed for applications where reduced depths of cut are required, as with the new, near net shape precision forgings and castings demanded by machine shops for higher productivity throughout. Cutting, thus, is lighter than ever. Outstanding insert geometry design and new grades give sharper edge lines. Less force is required for cutting and the result is a smoother profile, requiring less finishing than before, with lower sound in the machine shop. The insert geometry and new grades make this the first cutter with a true 90-degree cut without sharp steps or mismatch.
