Voltamp Controls offers Varivolt, a continuously variable voltage autotransformer, having a movable carbon tip, fixed to a brush-arm sliding on a silver plated commutator. Rotation of the brush-arm by either manual or motor drive, delivers an output voltage from zero to 230/440 V or above line voltage. It conforms to IS 5142 of 1969. Salient features are: rugged construction, excellent regulation, high efficiency, no wave form distortion, silver plated commutator, over-load capacity, low operating torque, smooth and linear output, low magnetizing current, and negligible maintenance and trouble free long life. The transformers are available in various current ratings from 225 amp up to 1,000 amp, in both single phase and three phase models. Special paralleling techniques designed by the company have made it possible to surpass the previous current limit of 200 amp in torroidal auto-transformers. Models below 40 amp are air/oil cooled, while those above that are oil cooled. In special cases, the latter are also available in air cooled construction.
