It consist of a bundle of round tubes packed together inside a cylindrical sbell witb tbe tube axis parallel to tbat of tbe sbell. One fluid flows inside tbe tubes, while tbe other Hows on the outside of the tubes. Shell & tube beat Exchanger are normally used for transferring beat bet-ween liquids, either with or without a change of phase. The major components of the exchanger are the tubes, shell, front & rear end heads & tube sheets. Generally battles are also provided on the shell side to prevent stagnation of the sbell side fluid & promote better heat transfer.
