Deccan Enterprises Limited manufactures Decosil range of Composite Silicon Insulators. Decosil insulators are designed and manufactured to operate under the most severe conditions by its inherent property of hydrophobicity. The basic formulation of the silicone including fillers and additives acts as the "defence mechanism" of silicone rubber against erosion and tracking. Decosil composite silicone insulators have the following special properties: full hydrophobicity over the lifetime of the insulator and fast regeneration; fast transfer of hydrophobic properties onto the pollution layer; and high tracking resistance. The properties given above lead to excellent insulation behaviour without the need to grease, hence low operation and maintenance cost. Advantages: excellent hydrophobicity; lower leakage current; light weight - 90% lighter than porcelain insulators, but offer an equal to better strength; resistance to breakages; safety against vandalism and shatter proof; compact design; aesthetics; and safety.
