Compact Vision System
The National Instruments’ Compact Vision System delivers the power of three smart cameras in one rugged and easy-to-use device. With the NI compact vision system, users can: configure complete vision solutions with vision builder for automated inspection (AI) software; acquire from up to 16 IEEE 1394 cameras, including infrared and line scan; process images in real time with a fast embedded processor; integrate with industrial devices through Ethernet, serial, or isolated digital I/O; inspect in the toughest industrial environments. Check for presence: this is the simplest type of vision inspection. Verify the correct number of parts by matching colours, measuring intensity, and analysing particles. Also geometric matching is immune to overlapping objects or objects that change in scale. Identify objects: object identification is important for part compliance, tracking and verification. Straightforward identification methods included with vision builder AI include reading a barcode or data code such as DataMatrix and PDF 417. Newer methods include trainable OCR and object classification. Measure parts: measuring parts is a common application for machine vision systems. Edge detection, particle analysis, and geometric tools accurately measure distances, diameter, angles, and area down to one-tenth of a pixel. Whether the user is calculating the total number of pills in a blister pack or the angle between two brake-caliper edges, Vision Builder AI features the built-in tools the user needs to make the measurement.
