CERATIZIT presented its diverse range of drilling systems at the EMO trade show in Hannover during the 2013 edition. MaxiDrill 900 is one of the most comprehensive programs on the market, while the multifunction tool EcoCut has been updated to offer even better performance. In addition, the carbide expert has added new carbide drills to its product range.
Â
Drilling applications are as numerous and diverse as the types of drills available. Depending on the field of application and the size of the holes, users may choose multifunction tools, carbide or insert drills. CERATIZIT offers the entire range of tool systems, and presented its “World of drills†at EMO.
Â
Since it was launched two years ago, the Maxi Drill 900 has established itself as the classic high-performance drill. It has set new standards in high-feed processing. And it performs well on steel, cast iron, nonferrous metals and other materials that are difficult to machine. CERATIZIT has now added to this program, making MaxiDrill 900 one of the most comprehensive drilling programs on the market: available in diameters ranging from 14 to 63 mm, and in lengths of up to 5xD. The geometry of the insert, which has four cutting edges, is well suited to the approach angle. This ensures an excellent drilling action and process security, even in difficult conditions – for example, on inclined or uneven surfaces. At the same time, the drill allows for high feed rates thanks to its very rigid structure.
EcoCut combines the various tools required to machine internal and external profiles as well as to drill holes. There are two types available: insert tools “Classic†or carbide tools “Miniâ€. EcoCut enables drilling diameters of 4 up to 32 mm.
Â
New to the “EcoCut Classic†are the three new, coated high-performance and multi-purpose grades, which cover all ISO material groups (steel, stainless steel, cast iron and high-temperature alloys). In addition, CERATIZIT has optimized the tool holder in terms of stability. The smooth “hard&tough†surface of the tool holder is less resistant to friction, allowing the swarf to be evacuated smoothly. Meanwhile, the hardness of the surface protects against abrasive wear. To enable better transfer of the torque, EcoCut now comes with new Torx Plus screws.
Â
In the process of improving the “EcoCut Miniâ€, CERATIZIT has developed two new carbides: uncoated and sharp-edged for aluminium and non-ferrous metals, and a universal coated grade for other materials. The new generation of submicron types is particularly tough, heat resistant and has high transverse rupture strength. At the same time it is also resistant to against chipping.
Â
Besides the MaxiDrill 900 and EcoCut, CERATIZIT also offers solid carbide drills. Its diverse standard program ranges from drills that can be used on all materials, to high-performance tools for drilling special materials such as titanium und Inconel. For these types of applications, CERATIZIT finds the best possible combination of cutting material and geometry. The carbide expert also manufactures deep hole drills with a total length of up to 50 times their diameter.
Â
Synonymous with “hard material mattersâ€, CERATIZIT is a pioneer and global player in sophisticated hard material solutions. The company operates from Mamer, Luxembourg. The company is the world market leader in unique and consistently innovative hard material products for wear protection and cutting tools.
