A multilayer ceramic capacitor is a monolithic block of ceramic containing two sets of off-sets, interleaved planer electrodes that extend to two opposite surfaces of the ceramic dielectric. Multilayer ceramic capacitors are available in a wide range of characteristics. They are classified into two types: Class-1 are the temperature compensating type and class 2 are the general purpose capacitors with non-liner temperature co-efficient. Gujarat Poly-AVX Electronics Limited (POLY-AVX) is a company promoted jointly by Polychem Ltd, AVX Corporation of USA and Gujarat Industrial Investment Corporation Limited (GIIC). The company manufactures multilayer ceramic capacitors in chip and leaded (radial and axial) configurations, single layer ceramic capacitors and metal oxide varistors (MOVs). These are manufactured on highly sophisticated automatic machines. The facility is an off-shore manufacturing base for AVX.
