Case Hardening Process

Tribology India offers Tribonite, a ‘surface enhancement’ process. It is a Case Hardening Process to treat the surface of the metal components like steel, stainless steel, cast iron etc. The company manufactures base salt – "BS-41", regeneration salt – "RS-63", and Tribocon – a cyanide control chemical. The Tribonite is an advanced thermo chemical process in which the nitrogen and carbon are diffused simultaneously into surface of the material to provide case hardening of the surface. The diffusion of nitrogen not only improves the mechanical properties but also introduces residual compression stress, which greatly increases fatigue strength of the component. Treating of components will enhance certain properties like anti-scuffing, anti-galling resistance and increase in fatigue strength. The main application of Tribonite process is to reduce the coefficient of friction and hence can be used before assembly of any component. Base salt 'BS-41' is used for starting the bath. The regeneration salt `RS 63' which restores the carbonates back in the original position. The Tribocon is the special additive. The important function of Tribocon is to control the surface properties of the components treated and also determine the non-polluting character of the Tribonite bath. The types of components treated are crank shaft, cam shaft, valves, gears, tappets, timing gears, pinion shaft, push rods, injectors, break pistons, bearing nozzles, rings, wiper shafts, pin balls, steering gears.
