The TSCI/TSCC is an intelligent, micro-controller based unit, specifically suited for capacitor bank switching in automatic power factor control schemes, in a three-phase system. TSCI/TSCC uses the solid-state semiconductor technology of SCRs (thyristors) for AC power on/off control of 3-phase power capacitors. In contrast with conventional contactor based capacitor bank switching, TSCI/TSCC allows switching on without in-rush current (soft-switching), smooth disconnecting and also faster switching operations.
Therefore, TSCI/TSCC is highly suitable for highly fluctuating loads that demand real-time (dynamic) power factor corrections as typically required in: production lines involving automation and CNC machines; lifts/elevators; sheet metal press shops; wind turbines involving induction generators; central air conditioning load; metal rolling mills, electrical furnaces and coiling/de-coiling plants; printing presses; and welding machines.
