Kuebler has launched new CANopen Encoders, Sendix F5868 and F5888, expanding its F-Multiturn product family with robust high resolution CANopen encoders that boast a through hollow shaft up to 15 mm. The optical encoders without gears are based on the innovative and patented Intelligent-Scan-TechnologyTM. Along with many additional CANopen functionalities this encoder is also equipped with a Universal Scaling Function (USF). The new encoders of the F58 series are used, for example, to measure the angle of rotation of booms or upper structures. Typical applications can be found in the field of Mobile Automation, but the new encoders can be used also in all other applications that have CANopen communications. The USF function prevents an error occurring with the physical resolution of an encoder when active scaling takes place. This can arise when the division of the physical limit by the programmable overall resolution does not result in a whole number. Using the USF function the encoder can be automatically corrected at the end of the measuring range. This ensures that if the boom rotates too far in either direction then no measuring errors arise. As a result of the complete integration of the singleturn and multiturn functionality onto one OptoASIC the encoder is 100% insensitive to magnetic fields. With a multiturn and a singleturn resolution each of 16 bits the encoder achieves a total resolution of up to 32 bits, so ensuring compatibility with the CANopen profile. At the same time the Sendix F5868 and F5888 encoders from Kuebler support the latest CANopen communication profile to DS 301 V4.2.
