Wahal Engineers manufactures a wide range of Bitumen Emulsion Plants, which is high shear in-line homogeniser. These are developed for the disintegration and solubilisation of polymers into bitumen for the production of modified bitumen. The body walls are jacketed for oil heating, which ensures that the product cannot cool or solidify inside machines. These machines help to ensure that heat reaches all areas, where residue accumulates. The company offers standard mechanical shaft seals, which are available according to the application and the batch size that can also vary. Like all its units, the interchangeable stators can adapt the machine for varying processes. The modified bitumen production polymers and rubbers such as SBS, APP, PVC and EVA are blended with bitumen. These are primarily used in the production of road surfaces and roofing felts. Some polymers like SBS are more difficult to dissolve/disperse and require high shear to achieve a satisfactory mixing time. Thus, the jacketed in-line mixers are helpful to ensure optimum mixing, wherein the bitumen/polymer mix is recycled where the high shear rotor/stator workhead rapidly disintegrates the polymer pieces. Besides, the high shear action exposes constantly increasing areas of fresh polymer to the surrounding bitumen and reduces the process time. Applications: polymer modified bitumen (SBS); bitumen emulsions, under seals and waterproofing compounds; and bitumen cable insulation.
