Aries Electronics offers ball grid arrays. They are an alternative to pins for surface mount devices, including adapter, hybrid, and CorrectA-Chip products. Ball grid arrays permit connections over the entire bottom surface of the device, and are available for ceramic or larninate type boards. The arrays use 0.20? to 0.030?diameter spheres composed of 90% Pb/10% Sn. Available down to 0.8 mm pitch, the arrays offer coplanarity within 0.004". Shear strength for 0.030"spheres is greater than 2 lbs.
