Automatic Tool Changer

Pragati Automation Pvt Ltd offers an Automatic Tool Changer. Tool magazines are generally available in two basic configurations, viz., drum type and chain type. Drum type magazines have limited magazine capacity of 20, 24 or 30 tools. Chain type magazines have tool capacity of 30 or 40 tools. Both type of magazines are suitable for tools with BT/SK/ ISO/CAT/ HSK taper in 30, 40 and 50 sizes. Tool magazine is of modular construction. Tool pockets are mounted on a central wheel, which is driven by a magazine drive unit. Magazine drive unit comprises of "parallel intex cam" mechanism and induction motor as standard. Magazine drive unit is also available with servo motor drive. Tool pockets are swivelled during tool change operation by a pneumatic cylinder. The pneumatic cylinder unit is designed as an independent unit for fitment in the front. Proximity switches are mounted on this unit to sense the two positions of the tool pocket. All service components of the magazine are easily accessible from front. Adjustments of cylinder stroke and setting of proximity switches can be done by removing the front cover. Arm drive unit is designed as an independent unit to give movement to tool changer arm. The tool changer arm has two movements, 'axial' and 'angular'. These movements are generated using a globoidal cam and flat cam. The cam unit is driven by an electric motor through a reduction gear train. One revolution of the camshaft is one tool change cycle. Tool change cycle involves synchronised actions of 'tool release' and 'tool clamp' from the machining center. Proximity switches provided on the arm drive unit help in synchronising these actions, through use of machine PLC.
