The Aftercoolers are available in water-cooled and air-cooled types. The compressed air leaving from the aftercoolers is hot and saturated with moisture & oil when it leaves the air compressor. They rapidly cool this air so that it can be easily handled. Water-Cooled Aftercoolers are preferred because they achieve lower air temperature and hence more moisture removal. Air-cooled Aftercoolers are installed where water is very hard or there are other constraints on availability of soft cooling water. Separated liquids can be drained manually or by auto drain valve.
