Abrasion Tester

Abrasion Tester

Zwick Abrasion Tester conforms with DIN 53516 standards. Abrasion tests to this test standard are performed on samples of materials which are subject to wear and tear during their normal working life (e.g. tyres, conveyor and drive belts, shoe soles to DIN 53543). Since wear is always the result of friction, many test methods have been devised to simulate long terms wear under laboratory conditions in just a few minutes. The test method according to DIN 53516 has proved to be the best of all these methods. This method enables comparative tests to be performed to check the uniformity of a specific material. The test results obtained provide important parameters for the wear characteristics of elastomers in practice use. The Abrasion Tester may also be used for comparative measurements on other materials such as plastics, chalk or painted surfaces. The operation of the Abrasion Tester Zwick 6102 is very simple and tests may be performed by unskilled personnel. The Basic unit consists of machine frame, drive system and sample holder and ancillary equipment. The drum to which the abrasive sheet is attached and the worm drive, together with a guide rod which enables the sample to be moved laterally are mounted in the machine frame.
