A Unique Engraving System

Scriptograf Engraving & Marking Machine Co offers a unique Engraving System.

 

Engraving is obtained by copying from a template or model. The template can be letters from the alphabet or a particular design. For engraving the letters, these are sets of separate letters allowing the composition of the desired text, in different styles and heights of characters. These individual letters are fitted in copy holding slides. It is only necessary to follow the groove in the characters, using a stylus to obtain the exact reproduction on the place or object being engraved. The engraving can be reduced from the template in the chosen ratio which has to be adjusted on the pantograph.

 

Pantograph

 

The pantograph is provided with a variable ratio adjustment. Scales are provided on the pantograph for adjusting the desired ratio which will always be a reduction from the template or character. Area covered by the pantograph will be dependent on the model of the machine.

 

The company makes portable, low cost bench machines ideally suited for a variety of engraving jobs such as desk plates, signs, tokens, symbols, novelties gift articles, etc.

 

The machine comes with work holding vise with lateral and cross movement. Copy holding slides are also provided which is position on a tracer plate by a simple clamping device.

 

The Three Cutters:

1) High speed steel (HSS) for engraving on Perspex acrylic, plastic, brass, anodized aluminium, hardwood, etc

2) Tungsten carbide cutters (TCC) for engraving on abrasive plastic materials, Bakelite, Hylam, Formica, etc., and

3) Diamond cutter for use by scratch marking on metals like silver, gold, platinum or glass, etc.

 

The machine comes with extra accessories such as: a) Tabulator for ease of engraving of serial numbers; b) Rotary fixture – a device for engraving in a circle within specified limits; and c) Special type jaws for holding various articles.

 

The company makes two models of engraving machines – SG-1 & SG-2 – with the following specifications:

• SG-1: Pantograph ratio 2.5:1 to 6:1 and template table 387 x 150 mm, and
• SG-2: Pantograph ratio 2.5:1 to 8:1 and template table 620 x 254 mm.

 

Scriptograf® can now supply dual coloured sheets, especially engravable, flexible and laminated plastic.

 

Engraved signs answer the requirement for information in public buildings, corporate offices, manufacturing plants, warehouses, factories, retails stores, hotels, hospitals and more. In addition one can make name plates, name tags, mail box plates, directional, safety, warning signs, even entire sign systems – the list goes on.

 

The dual coloured sheets perform best with Scriptograf’s engraving machines, models SG-1 and SG-2. Salient features include: specifically engineered for elegant modern signage; engraving reveals contrasting colour combinations; eliminates time consuming colour filling and is shatter free, low glare and mar resistant; excellent for fine detail – rotary engraving; and contemporary surface texture – matt, brushed. Advantages: easy to read and can be sheared, laser cut, die – cut, heat bended, screen printed.
