It can be combined with tapered or stepped dia. or variable pitch flights to give even discharge of the material. Live bottom screw feeders are designed to be mounted under flat bottom bins to control the flow rate of bulk material that tend to pack or bridge under pressure. Live bottom screw feeders are designed to be flooded with the bulk material and by means of a shrouded trough will control the amount of bulk material being discharged. A stepped tapered pitch or variable pitch screws are used in live bottom screw feeder to draw the bulk material evenly from all areas of inlet opening.
