FDC is a modern addition to an array of Pollution Control Equipment. It is majorly used to substantially reduce the temperature of gas where high temperature can damage the equipment. With the use of banks of tubes placed vertically and horizontally, hot gas with average velocity of 20m/s is passed through inside or outside of the tubes to achieve desired temperature drop. 

Vertical Circular Tube type: Tubes are fixed on the top and bottom of the tube sheets and hopper is incorporated for collecting the dust. Power can be saved by switching on one or number of fans depending on the desired outlet temperature. It is not necessary to operate all the fans at a time.Horizontal Flat Tube type: Flat tubes are placed horizontally to increase the heat transfer area of hot gases passing along the outside of tubes resulting in increased efficiency of the system.
