Alloy Stainless Steel

  • Stainless steel re-discovered in early 19th century is an alloy of iron having the main characteristic of corrosion resistance. This alloy is corrosion resistance due to presence of minimum 10.5% chromium which forms a passive oxide layer on the surface of the steel naturally by combination of chromium and oxygen in the air, protecting the steel from getting rusted.
  • Higher the level of chromium higher will be the alloys resistance to corrosion. If the surface of the metal gets scratched it quickly reforms. One of the advantages of using stainless steel is great variety of surface finish can be achieved like matt, bright, embossed, tinted etc.
  • Stainless steel grade and type must be chosen on the basis of corrosion resistance requirements suitable for specific environment. They use stainless steel for a wide range of products like seamless and welded pipes, sheets, plates, wires, fittings, bars, flanges etc.
