Anabond Limited has introduced high strength, high temperature Engineering Plastic, SennelTM that exhibits tensile strength of 70 MPa and suitable for continuous service temperature of 260ºC and short excursions up to 400ºC. Sennel has high mechanical strength, thermal and chemical resistance, good dimensional stability, high creep and impact resistance. Sennel can be machined like brass or aluminium. It has low dielectric constant and high dielectric strength. It’s low specific gravity (1.35 as against 7.8 for M.S) helps weight reduction leading to cost effective solutions to problems encountered in engineering designs. Sennel also comes in versions filled with graphite, MoS2 and PTFE that makes it, self-lubricating for use as lightweight and wear resistant bushes and bearings. It has good nuclear radiation resistance. The chemical inertness of this material makes it biocompatible. Sennel finds use in making components that has to work at high temperature, vibration and exposed to the elements of nature. Some indicative applications are: thrust washers and seal rings in automobiles and electrical motor components; vanes bushings, bearings and washers in aircraft engine components; diamond cutting wheels which operate at high speeds; clamp rings, screens, caps and plate inserts in semiconductors; semiconductor test sockets, socket holders, probe heads contactors and adaptors in electronic industry; grippers, sweepouts, rollers and pads in glass manufacturing industry; bushings, bearings and wear pads in photocopying machines; and HPLC and GC ferrules.
