Trilliant Networks, a US-based provider of smart grid and industrial internet of things (IIoT) solutions, is set to establish a manufacturing unit and a development and global support center in Tamil Nadu.

The announcement came after Mike Mortimer, Chief Commercial Officer, Trilliant, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government in Chicago. The signing ceremony was attended by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who is currently visiting the US to attract foreign investment.

In addition to this agreement, Chief Minister Stalin met with Venkatesh Alagirisamy, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Nike. Discussions focused on expanding non-leather footwear production in Tamil Nadu, developing an environmental setup for apparel production, and establishing a production and design centre in Chennai. They also explored potential collaborations with Tamil Nadu’s Naan Mudhalvan skill development initiative.

Nike, which already operates in Tamil Nadu through its contract manufacturers employing around 28,000 people, also has sourcing operations in the state.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister engaged with Roger Conner, CEO, Optum Insight, and John Meade, Senior Vice President, UnitedHealth Group. The talks centered on enhancing Optum's operations and building a skilled workforce to support Tamil Nadu’s burgeoning healthcare sector. Optum, which currently employs 5,000 people in Tamil Nadu, is considering expanding its presence to Trichy and Madurai.
