Toyota Kirloskar Motor Marks Environment Month 2026

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has commenced Environment Month 2026 under the theme, ‘Move Towards Climate Positive Company through Resource Recycling’, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable practices across its operations and stakeholder ecosystem.

Guided by the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 and other sustainability goals, the initiative brings together suppliers, dealers, logistics partners, employees and communities to strengthen resource recycling, waste reduction and climate-positive action.

TKM is working to reduce resource consumption and cut waste across its operations. The company is targeting a 12.5 per cent reduction in packaging usage over the next five years through cross-functional improvement activities, and a 15 per cent reduction in process-generated waste by 2030 through annual milestones. These efforts are supported by stronger waste recyclability measures and the continued push for Zero Waste-to-Landfill. TKM also remains committed to running its manufacturing facilities entirely on renewable electricity.

On the supplier front, TKM is working closely with supplier partners to promote resource efficiency and responsible material usage. The company is encouraging waste reduction within supplier operations and greater use of recycled materials. It is targeting 60 per cent recycled content in supplier packaging by FY2028-29, while helping partners navigate evolving environmental requirements.

At the dealership level, TKM will roll out recycling initiatives in phases, starting in Bengaluru in September 2026, expanding across Karnataka by December 2026 and going nationwide by March 2027. The initiative will encourage circular practices within dealership operations and build greater customer awareness around responsible resource management.

The company is also working with logistics partners and regional facilities to improve environmental performance in transportation and distribution, with a focus on greater rail usage, higher CNG adoption and reduced packaging waste through better operational efficiency.

Beyond business, TKM continues its community engagement through environmental education and biodiversity conservation. The Toyota Green Wave Project has contributed to nurturing over 650 plant species and more than 400 faunal species. The Ecozone programme, meanwhile, has reached over 62,000 students on environmental conservation and sustainable living.

B Padmanabha, Executive Vice President & Director – Manufacturing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “Our journey towards becoming a climate-positive company requires continuous improvement, collaboration and responsible action at every level. Through Environment Month 2026, we are strengthening our focus on resource recycling and waste reduction while encouraging sustainable practices across our value chain. We firmly believe that every individual contribution, however small it may seem, has the power to create meaningful change. Together, these collective efforts will help us reduce environmental impact and advance our long-term sustainability goals.”

Through initiatives like Environment Month 2026, Toyota Kirloskar Motor aims to strengthen environmental awareness, encourage wider participation in sustainability and reinforce its commitment to creating long-term value for society through responsible growth.
