There are various types of heat exchangers used in different applications ranging from food processing to steel and other engineering industries media may be separated by a solid wall to prevent mixing or they may be in direct contact. They are widely used in space heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, power plants, chemical plants, petrochemical plants, petroleum refineries, natural gas processing, and sewage treatment. The classic example of a heat exchanger is found in an internal combustion engine in which a circulating fluid known as engine coolant flows through radiator coils and air flows past the coils, which cools the coolant and heats the incoming air. A heat exchanger is thus a piece of equipment built for efficient heat transfer from one medium to another.

Established in the year 1979 in the industrial town of Vithal Udyognagar, near Anand, Gujarat, IDMC today ranks among the largest project engineering and equipment manufacturing companies in the dairy, beverages, pharmaceutical, healthcare, brewery, food processing, confectionery and industrial refrigeration sectors.

IDMC is an equipment manufacturing, process engineering and project management company catering to the fields of dairy and allied, brewery and beverage and pharmaceuticals. The company manufactures, assembles and supplies Plate Heat Exchangers (PHEs) for dairies such as pasteurisers, chillers, heaters, CIP heaters, etc., for milk and milk products such as curd, buttermilk, cream, butter, etc.

IDMC manufactures, assembles and supplies PHEs for brewery and beverages such as pasteurisers, wort cooler, filtered beer chiller, syrup cooler, beverage cooler, etc. The company also manufactures, assembles and supplies semi-welded cassette plate heat exchangers for refrigeration applications with or without associated equipment such as accumulator and control instruments mounted on skid chillers and evaporators, factory assembled and tested, ready for commissioning and PHE condensers. IDMC also manufactures, assembles and supplies plate heat exchangers for power plants, steel plants, paper mills, chemicals and fertilizer plants for heat exchange between water and water or any other fluid and water.

At present, IDMC is executing an order for 24 plate heat exchangers from Toshiba JSW Power Systems Pvt Ltd, a joint venture company between Toshiba Japan and JSW and has focus to execute large orders in power sector in India. The applications are steam generator, turbine generator and oil cooling in large thermal power plants.

IDMC executes industrial refrigeration and air conditioning projects and has recently completed one of the India's largest MEP projects comprising of 6500 TR refrigeration capacity chilling plant where in 5 units of 1000 TR centrifugal chillers and 5 units of 300 TR screw chillers are installed. The project was executed on turnkey basis for Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, Vishakhapatnam Steel Plant, Vishakhapatnam, and has other systems such as air handling and air distribution system for control rooms, HT to LT transformer room air conditioning, cooling water system, chilled water system, fire detection and alarm system both in water and Energen, LCSS, HT and LT transformers and panels, etc. IDMC is also engaged in fabrication of equipment to sanitary design meeting national and international standards. It manufactures flow equipment including SS fittings, pneumatically operated process valves and SS pumps of sanitary design. It is also engaged in designing and manufacturing of screw compressor modules and refrigeration equipment for water chilling, brine chilling, beverage cooling, etc; and marketing of process equipment, packaging machines/lines, ice cream cabinet, homogenizers, etc., under agency agreement with reputed manufacturers.

Quality Policy/Processes

IDMC lays great emphasis on maintenance of quality standards for both, in house manufactured and bought out materials. The company has a mature, well developed department to ensure high quality assurance practices. The quality control department is well-equipped with the latest in testing and inspection apparatus to fulfil industry standards. Prominent among them are surface roughness testers and comparators, ultrasonic thickness gauge, coordinate measuring machine, spectrometer, fibre scope 6.5 m, ultrasonic crack detector, helium leak detector and riboflavin testing equipment which is used extensively in pharmaceutical and biotech industries.

Emerging as a key player in the fabrication of various equipment for dairy, pharmaceutical and biotechnology, brewery and beverages industries, IDMC claims to have one of the best-equipped fabrication shop in the country. Fully equipped with material handling equipment, automatic welding, automatic polishing machines, etc., this excellent infrastructure manned by qualified engineers and skilled manpower, has given the company a leadership position in technology intensive pharmaceutical and biotechnology sector which emphasizes on very high surface finish for its process application.

The fabrication shop undertakes on a regular basis fabrication of storage tanks, process vessels, mixing vessels, reactors, fermenters, sterilisers, WFI, PW and other critical SS vessels. IDMC also offers in house facility for electropolishing of the tanks and vessels.
