Huned Contractor profiles IT company Maven Systems, chosen for this year's NASSCOM Emerge 50 Award program for its innovative products in the area of automated meter reading
Pune once again has reason to be proud of its technology talent. Maven Systems (P) Ltd, with proven products in the area of automated meter reading, has been chosen as one of the top 50 emerging companies in the IT sector by the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM). The 'Emerge 50 Award' by the Association annually identifies, showcases and supports high-potential emerging companies that are redefining the benchmarks of excellence for the IT industry.
Elaborating about what the company does, Dhananjay Kulkarni, Chief Operating Officer, Maven Systems, says, "We offer our technology to various electric meter manufacturers to enable them to respond to state electricity tenders. Our systems offer wireless meter readings using RF/ZigBee technologies on 865/868 MHz and 2.4 GHz. We not only offer the wireless modules but also do integration with the electric meters to demonstrate working solutions."
A product engineering company providing end-to-end solutions in the verticals of metering, heavy equipment monitoring and transportation, Maven Systems has clients spread across India, US, Brazil, Africa, Indonesia, Singapore, China and the UAE. In another recent development, Serial Microelectronics, a part of the Serial Group, which is a global distributor of active and passive electronic components to original equipment manufacturers, announced a joint initiative with Maven Systems to enable the latter to deliver solutions in the fast-growing market of M2M (machine to machine) communications.
"To start with, the solutions will be targeted towards automated meter reading (AMR) for electrical meters and will soon be expanded to other domains such as water meters, asset tracking, internet/cloud-based remote machine monitoring and hospitality management," a press note states.
Meanwhile, in May this year, Team Maven won the first ever Texas Instruments (TI) MCU Design Contest for the year 2011-2012. The team, comprising Dnyandeep Buwa and Suhas Jain from Maven Systems, won a prize of USD 15,000 and lifted the coveted TI MCU Design Contest Shield for their innovative project titled 'Wireless Security Hub' based on TI's MSP430 microcontroller. Aimed at inspiring and challenging top design engineers across the country to demonstrate their skills and innovation to drive the future of electronics, the contest saw the participation of more than 1,200 teams from different walks of life, including companies, design houses, engineers in individual capacity and hobbyists across India.
Maven Systems was started by two industry veterans with domain specialisation in electronic design, firmware and software. It offers end-to-end product design services in all the above areas all across the globe. The company's heavy equipment monitoring product division is active in Indonesian and Indian mines and the construction sector. With various OEM tie-ups, Maven's product is bundled with equipments such as excavators, wheel loaders, cranes, screens and other heavy equipment. In 2013, Maven Systems plans to make an entry into LED lighting area for commercial premises, road lighting, townships, and so on. Sunil Desai, founder and CEO, with graduation in electronics and telecommunications as well as a postgraduate degree in management science, is a technologist with 28 years experience and looks after hardware innovations at Maven Systems. His focus areas include embedded system design, networking and communications. Passionate about 'quality in education', Sunil has been participating in university programs like syllabus-setting, paper-setting, guiding engineering college project students, etc.
The company's co-founder and COO, Dhananjay Kulkarni has over 25 years of experience working with several leading Indian software companies like TCS, Cognizant, and others. On the technical side his experience includes architecting very large web-based and embedded systems while on the operations side he has managed P&L for business units of team size of 350+ resources.
Dhananjay has also been actively involved in philanthropy since the start of his career and is a trustee of an NGO called Sanvedana. He also actively supports an NGO named Door Step School and the 'Every Child Counts (ECC)' campaign. All these NGOs have a primary focus on education of children.
