The PushPull product family from HARTING offers one device connectivity technology for transmitting data, signal and power

The Harting PushPull is standardised to IEC 61076-3-106 Variant 4 and the Han PushPull to IEC 61076-3-117 Variant 14. This means that the PushPull and Han PushPull series offer different outer dimensions and different individual inserts. The PushPull product family is easy to handle and the connection offers vibration-proof IP 65/IP 67 protection. All PushPull connections can be inserted and removed with one hand - just like the name PushPull promises. A clear "click" signals that the connection has been correctly inserted. When inserted, the PushPull then has IP 65/IP 67 protection according to IEC 60529, dust-proof and completely protected against contact, immersion and splash water from all directions.

A large number of inserts that can be used for a very wide range of applications are available for the compact size. Power inserts are available for the power supply. Depending on what the customer application requires, the PushPull Power connectors are available in alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) models. The Power inserts differ in the number of contacts and the maximum load from current (max. 15 A) and voltage. RJ45 inserts and inserts for fibre optic cable contacts are available for data and signal transmission. The RJ45 inserts are available in both 5-pin and 8-pin models. The PushPull Hybrid simplifies device installation thanks to the combination of data and power contacts in a single insert. The PushPull Hybrid cuts in half the number of plug-in points, the number of cables that are to be connected, and the space required on the device. It also minimizes the commissioning time.

USB Insert Emphasizes the PushPull System's Sustainability

The integration of USB inserts in PushPull connectors combine the advantages of USB and PushPull. Developers of the PushPull USB interface products paid special attention to simple device integration. The data transmission performance has been steadily expanded since the RJ45 interface was introduced. Originally the maximum transmission rate was 10 Mbit/s. Later transmission rates of 100 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s were made possible. Currently the RJ45 connector can transmit 10 Gbit/s. The PushPull RJ45 guarantees all of these transmission rates. Data and signal can also alternatively be transmitted over fiber optic cables with the PushPull. The advantages of optical data transmission using fiber optic cables instead of copper cables are the lack of sensitivity to electromagnetic disturbances, low attenuation levels, high data rates, and large transmission paths. Both the PushPull and the Han PushPull are available with fibre optic cable contacts. The company uses two SC connectors in the SCRJ container in the Han PushPull, which is why it is also called the PushPull SCRJ. The SCRJ mating face is standardized according to IEC 61754-24 and also conforms to PROFINET/AIDA. The abbreviation SCRJ means that the SC connector is used in a container. This container has the same dimensions in the mating face as the RJ45 connector. The PushPull SCRJ is available in three different designs. The following fibre types can be used, depending on the SC connector that is used: glass fibre, HCS fibre (also called PCF fibre) and polymer optical fibre (POF for short). Because of its quick assembly technology with knurled screw, the SC connector for POF is ideally suitable for on-site assembly. The three fibre types have different core and sheath materials.

Transmission Lengths of 100 Metres are Possible

The maximum transmission rates and lengths also differ depending on the fibre used. Transmission lengths of 100 m are possible with a polymer optical fibre and a transmission rate of 100 Mbit/s. The PushPull variant 4 for optical data transmission is called the PushPull LC Duplex, which refers to the two LC connectors that are used. ?The LC is a more compact connector than the SC and, in the Duplex model, is about half the size of the SC Duplex. The PushPull LC Duplex can be assembled only with glass fiber. The LC mating face is standardized according to IEC 61754-20 and is available for both single mode and multi-mode in the PushPull LC Duplex models.

When a single mode fibre is used at high transmission rates, transmission lengths of up to 100 km are possible without having to refresh or amplify the signal. Single mode fibres are usually used in wide area networks or backbone networks.? Either the 50/125 ?m or 62.5/125 ?m multi-mode glass fibre can be used with the multi-mode models. Because of the continual development of the 50/125 ?m fibre's transmission properties, transmission rates of 10 Gbit/s can also be transmitted over several hundred meters. As a result, this fibre is being used more and more.

The PushPull product range is completed by the matching system cable, optionally with assembled cable ends on one or both sides. The system cables are available in both standard lengths and customer-specific lengths. The pre-assembled PushPull LC Duplex system cable offers users special choices. The system cables are available in the classic design with typical PushPull cable clamp and also with an overmoulded cable outlet. Forces of at least 200 N can be absorbed with the help of this overmoulding while maintaining the same performance level.
