The seventh edition of EMMA Expo India 2013 set a centre stage for Taiwan's latest industrial products. EMMA (Electronics, Machines, Moulds and Auto parts) Expo, which was held in Chennai from September 5-7, 2013, showcased their latest offerings to the industry. The three day expo has also come up with an 'I bring Taiwan to India' concept to facilitate purchase of Taiwan products without burdening Indian businessmen from travelling to the South East Asian country.

The Expo was organised by the Taipei World Trade Centre (TWTC) along with Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association (TEEMA), Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry (TAMI), and Taiwan Transportation Vehicle Manufacturers Association (TTVMA), under the auspice of the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), Taiwan in association with Standard Chartered Bank and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
San Gee, Vice Chairman of Taipei World Trade Centre (TWTC), said, "TWTC is committed to building bilateral ties between India and Taiwan that will benefit both the nations. The expo, for the past six years has been bringing advanced technology and unique business solutions to India and will continue to excel it its offerings. With the introduction of education, we believe that EMMA Expo is an all-in-one platform that will augment the growth of both nations."

He further emphasised that bilateral trade of India and Taiwan is growing at a healthy rate and is expected to touch USD ten billion in the next two years. The rise in the disposable income of Indian consumers has propelled its economic growth story to new heights. Indian economic growth is positive, with its consumer spending emerging in full strength, making it the most sought after domestic market by companies across the world.
Commenting on the role of EMMA Expo India, Woody Tyzz-Jiun Duh, the Vice Minister of Economic Affairs, Taiwan said, "During the past seven years, bilateral trade between Taiwan and India has grown from US$ 4.9 billion in 2007 to US$ 6 billion in 2012. From January through July in 2013, bilateral trade has already reached US$3.89 billion, compared with US$3.68 billion for the same period in 2012, with an increase of 5.7 per cent, a sign that bilateral trade will continue to grow." Elaborating on trade growth between Indian and Taiwan, Ambassador Chung Kwang Tien, Representative, Taipei Economic & Cultural Centre in India, said that India's exports to Taiwan amounted to Rs 16,470 crore while its imports from Taiwan amounted to Rs 23,607 crore. Tien felt that there was enough room for growth as these figures contribute to one per cent and 0.89 per cent respectively. Tien said that the country had sound footing in ICT, electronics and machinery industries as well as machinery and moulds, auto and motorcycle related parts and accessories.

For many Indian visitors and Taiwanese exhibitors, EMMA Expo is the primary point of entry to meet business partners and expand their networks. The show displayed an array of products such as consumer electronics, electric appliance, electronic components, metalworking machinery, plastic machinery, food processing machinery, auto, motorcycle, automotive and much more.
The major participants in this year's edition included ASUS, the world's third largest consumer notebook computer manufacturer; Advantech Corporation, global leader in industrial computing; Tatung, manufacturer of green energy products such as solar power generation systems and oil-immersed amorphous transformers and HIWIN Technologies manufacturer of ball screws and linear guideways.

More than 90 per cent of the world's semiconductor equipment companies use HIWIN products. This year, among the leading 59 Taiwanese brands, 19 brands from the machinery industry showcased at the Taiwan Excellence Pavilion at the EMMA Expo. As known by consumers globally, Taiwan is home to many cutting-edge products coming from Taiwanese companies that have amazing technological competence in machinery and machine tool manufacturing. Nearly 80% of Taiwan's machinery products are generated for export. This not only enables Taiwan to hone its extraordinary competitiveness in international markets but also helps it build close relationships with its customers. Last edition witnessed over 6000 visitors and generated over Rs 95.7 crore business on site.
