bC India - a Bauma Conexpo Show - is a new trade show that focuses on the machinery industry for construction, building material, mining, construction vehicles and construction equipment for the Indian subcontinent and neighbouring countries. This business platform will bring together global market leaders and industry representatives to India. This new event will be held every two years to showcase the innovative technology in the construction and infrastructure sectors. bC India is a joint venture between two internationally successful trade show organisers: Messe Muenchen International, organiser of BAUMA, and AEM, organiser of CONEXPO-CON/AGG. The event is scheduled from February 8-11, 2011 at the Bandra-Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

The development is clearly spurred by the growing construction and infrastructure sectors of India. In mid 2009 Messe M?nchen International (MMI) and the American Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) reached an agreement on closer cooperation in organising international construction machinery trade fairs. The result is bC India, a premier event that has proved successful beyond expectations. When the newly-formed company announced the maiden bC India in September 2009 as an International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles, they were expecting to use approximately 50,000 sq.m of exhibition space. But by early 2010, in view of the large number of registrations from companies wishing to exhibit, the exhibition space was extended by 60 per cent, to 80,000 sq.m, and by August 2010, even this was sold out. An estimated 400-plus exhibitors from India and abroad are going to display their wares and the organisers expect about 20,000 visitors from all over India and the neighbouring countries.

bC India has not only attracted exhibitors, but also a large number of supporting organisation. The Builders' Association of India (BAI) was the first to lend support and has in fact become a joint organiser of the exhibition.

In addition, several Indian and international trade associations are supporting this first ever event for the segment (see box) But a word of caution to the visitors here; while admission is free of charge upon online pre-registration, those planning to visit on the spur of the moment would have to buy tickets onsite, which will be available for Rs 300 per day or Rs 500 for the entire duration of the show.
