Alleppey or Alappuzha, a famous location for house boats that cruises along the rustic Kerala backwaters was flooded with water due to heavy rain fall since July 27, 2018. Being the area below sea level and continuous heavy rains has brought the life of Kuttanad residents and also the famous Alappuzha-Changanassery (AC) Road, which connects the two districts of Alleppey & Kottayam, to standstill.

 

KSB team headed by Praseed (Dy Manager, Sales) and Rajasekharan (Assistant Manager - Engg) from KSB MIL, along with local dealer Periyar Trading Co approached the Disaster Management Department, Trivandrum, for extending support. Team did a herculean task, worked day & night and installed 8 Monosub R, monobloc pumps of 5 & 7.5 hp, in the flooded area of Kuttanad. Additional installation of 2 KRT pumps having higher dewatering capacity is in progress. This will help to clear the flooded area more efficiently and will give relief to the local residents.

 

This initiative by KSB and KSB team’s excellent coordination is well appreciated by the District Collector, Irrigation Department and the local bodies as well as the residents.
