KM Crown Welding Consumables Pvt Ltd is a company promoted by Mr G T Jarani, a highly experienced and successful businessman and industrialist having business and industrial establishments in India and abroad. With a capacity of producing 50 MT welding consumables per day, this is the single largest plant in the state and equal to other two plants in India. The product range includes all kinds of SMAW electrodes, MIG Wires, SAW Wires, TIG Wires and SAW fluxes. Mr Jarani responded to the IPF Questionnaire on the company's products and applications. Excerpts:

What are the products that you offer?

We manufacture a range of welding consumables. These include Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) electrodes; Submerged Arc Welding (SAW) fluxes and wires; and CO2 welding wires.

What are the applications?

These products are used for welding (joining) metals and metal parts both ferrous and non-ferrous. The applications are very wide and diverse.

These include general steel fabrication, machine parts, metal structures, storage tanks, ship building, railway wagons, coaches and locomotives, bridges, pipelines, boilers, pressure vessels, etc.

Why should the customer opt for these?

The customer should accept our products because of their superior quality, regular supplies and competitive prices.

How strong/effective is the after sales service?

We have a large team of technical and sales representatives stationed at important industrial centres in India, like Mumbai, Pune, Baroda, Nagpur, Raipur, Kolkata, Chennai, Indore, Delhi, etc., who are well trained and experienced in their jobs. These representatives take care of the customers in their respective areas in providing after sales service.

How does the cost of ownership over the life cycle compare with competition?

Our product's costs have been well controlled to be lower so that they become competitive and can easily stand competition in the market.

What is the company's history?

We are a new company promoted in the year 2004, but have professionals with decades of experience in the field. The company is situated in an industrial town, Dewas in MP (near Indore). Dewas is well connected with rest of the places in India by rail and road. The company was established in 2004 and commenced its production in 2005.

The plant which measures nearly 80,000 sq.ft in area is fully equipped with latest machinery and equipment for production and quality control (including spectrometer). The company has an R&D department, which is headed by a highly experienced and knowledgeable technologist who has more than 40 years' experience in this field. The company's all technical activities are carried out under his guidance and control. The company is supported by techno-commercial team of professionals having experience of more than a decade in the field of manufacturing, quality control, R&D and marketing of welding consum-ables.The company has a wide range of welding electrodes to meet different welding applications. The plant has a capacity to produce 50 MT of welding consumables per day. The range of welding consumables includes:

The company's present sales turnover is Rs 8 crore per annum.

What are the company's achievements?

Several of our welding consumables have been approved by the leading national and international testing agencies like BIS, RD&IBR, NTH, IRS, Lloyd's Register of Shipping and man other private and public sectors such as Bhilai Steel Plant, BHEL Thermax, etc.

Any breakthrough product launch that made a difference?

Our R&D department is continuously working towards development of new products to meet the requirements of the new applications in thermal, hydel and nuclear power projects and petrochemical industries.

How is the present business environment?

The present business environment is very good as many new projects of infrastructure like power, steel, cement, pipelines are going on and more are in the offing where welding plays an important role.

What are the future plans?

Our future plans are to expand the volume and diversify our products so that we can be in the top bracket of the companies in this industry.
