The demand for Radiant Thermal Engineers’ products is at an all-time high with generation and better distribution of energy becoming a matter of prime importance today. Here, Kamlesh Rathore and Sanjay Sharma, Directors of Radiant Thermal Engineers, provide insights into their company and the road ahead.

Please provide a few insights about your company.
We are a steam boiler manufacturing company. Established in year 2000 and based in Indore. We fabricate boilers and their accessories required for steam generation and distribution in a plant requiring process heating. Dairies, foods, confectioneries, chemicals, textiles, oil plants are our main customers. We manufacture about 10 to 12 boilers with accessories in a year. The legal inspections and approvals by the department of IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) are done through the Directorate of Boilers Bhopal, MP, regularly.

Are you seeing a pick-up in demand in 2021-22 compared to 2020-21?
We are performing very well this year as the plant installations are growing fast. The demand for all the commodities is on rise and government support for new plants is very helpful.

What were the key learnings for you because of the pandemic? What changes have you incorporated in your company and in the industry due to Covid?
In any pandemic or natural disaster, updated industries always fare better. This learning is applicable everywhere leave alone this pandemic. Fast adaptation of technological advancements especially in the field of information and communication is the best learning one had so far. We compulsorily implemented of all the necessary rules and regulations released by the administration pertaining to health and safety from time to time.

What makes your products & solutions unique from those of the competitors?
The demand for our product is at an all time high as we fall in the category of energy equipment. The generation and better distribution of energy becomes a matter of prime importance in emergency situations like this. As we anticipated and were ready to meet the requirements of the market, we got an edge over competitors.

Which new products & solution have you introduced in the market in the last 2 years?
Our every product comes up with some upgrade/modification over earlier designs. In this way, we always come up with a new product which is more user-friendly.

Did you develop & launch any new products & solutions during the Covid pandemic? We did make some sanitiser dispensers for our inhouse use and installation. How does your company help customers to overcome their challenges?
The cost of steam is the biggest challenge being faced by our customers. We design and develop boilers and other systems which reduce this cost. This eventually helps in reducing the cost of their final product which is made by using steam generated by our boiler.

What are the emerging trends in your industry?
Cogeneration ie. generation of power along with steam is emerging as the new trend in lower capacities of boiler users.

Do you think government initiatives like PLI scheme, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, etc have been helpful to the industry?
They are highly beneficial for the industries. The support extended by the government has kept industries and the economy in control and in a better position.

How important is automation in your industry?
Automation is always welcome in our products being an energy equipment with safety as an added quality.

What new opportunities are you looking at to tap in the market?
Power generation boilers will be added in our product line for better share and profitability.

What are your short- and long-term growth plans for your company?
We are planning for a bigger manufacturing facility to increase both the sizes and quantity of our products.
