WNT is the sales arm of the Plansee Group for drilling, milling and turning tools, and it’s service concept is a hit in India – delivery service of the 8000 standard products within 48 hours. An interview with Indradeep Datta, National Sales Manager, WNT India.

WNT is described as a global sales organisation. So what about the manufacturing activity?

WNT is represented internationally in 18 countries worldwide. It is headquartered in Kempten, Germany. WNT is a member of the Plansee Group, which is a world-leading high tech company with manufacturing facilities all over the globe. The products available in the WNT catalogue are produced mainly in Germany and other parts of Europe.

What are the machining solutions offered by WNT? What is the range available?

The machining solutions offered by WNT cover everything required between the spindle and the worktable for a successful operation. Drilling, turning, milling, threading, and tool holding systems fill out the expansive selection. From micro drills with a 0.1 mm diameter to indexable drills with a diameter of 63 mm. WNT also offers high feed reaming solutions and digital fine boring tools. The catalogue even includes innovative multifunctional tools like Ecocutas well as miniature tools for precision machining.

Reconditioning is just another example of Service2. WNT looks to make solid carbide tools more economical for its customers. Used tools are reground to their original geometry and re-coated to achieve the same high performance as a brand new tool.

Any breakthrough product launch that made a difference?

Last year WNT introduced a number of new products to the market, which helped customers achieve improved machining performance, which ultimately leads to total cost reduction and productivity improvement. Products like the C900 high feed drill, HPC solid carbide end mills, and our Dragonskin coated inserts for both turning and milling have provided customers with increased process reliability as well as longer tool life.

Make in India is the buzz now. Any plan for manufacturing activity in India?
