Conventionally electrolytic copper is considered best for winding wires. So how does aluminium compare with copper?

No doubt electrolytic copper was considered the best in winding wires, be it for transformers, motors, tube light ballasts, electro magnetic coils or other applications. But aluminium also has considerably better mineral and physical properties over copper. Remarkable changes have taken place with the advancement of time and economic conditions due the increase in copper prices. The end users began exploring the availability of an alternative raw material, which can cut the cost and also maintain quality of the end product to sustain today's competition. Aluminium winding wires were found to be the answer to replace copper in most of the products.

What are the advantages of super enamelled aluminium winding wires?

The debate over the pros and cons of Aluminium vs. Copper has been conducted over the past so many years. The electrical equipment manufacturers have been concerned ever since about the different properties of the two metals and its suitability for the applications in the industry. Super enamelled aluminium winding wires have lot of advantages over copper in certain aspects. They are lighter in weight, have better heat dissipation properties and above all cost effective when compared with copper. The cost of the end product with aluminium winding wires will be considerably less than of the ones with copper winding wires. Reduction in the weight and the cost of the product are the best part of using aluminium winding wires.

Are these wires manufactured in India? If not, where are these sourced from?

Aluminium winding wires are manufactured in India also. But we are procuring and importing them from abroad from highly reliable and quality conscious manufacturers, who are able to manufacture and supply quality wires of pure aluminium with the latest and proven technological methods and capacity to produce on mass scale.

Are these Aluminium wires gaining in popularity?

Yes, of course it is gaining popularity as it is catching up with the expectations of the electrical equipment manufacturers as the cost of copper is becoming dearer. Aluminium wires are cheaper and cost effective, lighter in weight, have better heat dissipation factor, easy to handle, etc. The life expectancy of the equipment also is expected to be better comparatively due to its faster heat dissipating properties.

What is the geography the company operates in?

Presently we are operating in South India for our existing products, viz., TIBCON make capacitors, SIGMA make LT switchgear for which we are authorised distributors for south India. We have plans to launch the P-LINE range of aluminium winding wires in the pan India market in phased manner.

How reliable are these aluminium winding wires and how strong/effective is the after sales service?

Aluminium winding wires are at par with copper winding wires, in terms of performance and efficiency. Chances of failure are very minimal until and unless they are misused or tampered. However, the wires will be replaced if found faulty due to any manufacturing defect.

What has been the impact of the formation of Telangana on industries in the region?

There is no impact on industries in the region due to formation of Telangana so far. We expect that there would be positive development of industry in this region post formation of two states, and industry of both the states will grow at a better pace.

How has the company fared in terms of sales during the last three years, which witnessed a prolonged slowdown?

The company has not had any adverse effects or situations. We have not experienced any slowdown during the past three years on the contrary we have done better since we have various products in our range.

What, in your view, is the outlook for the next two years?

Hopefully, it appears that there is going to be a positive improvement in the industrial growth in the next few years with stable governance.
