“Solar power continues to lead, driven by lower costs and better efficiency”

Our long-term strategy focuses on driving innovation and growth in renewable energy, contributing to a sustainable future. We plan to scale up our solar energy offerings, focusing on high-efficiency panels, says Raman Bhatia, Founder & MD, Servotech Power Systems Ltd.

How are you supporting the growth of the solar energy sector?
We are making solar energy more accessible and approachable through a wide range of installation projects. From small-scale systems to larger-capacity solar installations, we have successfully brought clean energy to the homes of everyday people, supported by government subsidies. Our goal is to bring solar energy to every household and make it more accessible to the masses. To achieve this, we are building a strong network of dealers and distributors across the country.  By raising awareness of the benefits of solar energy, we are helping to drive its widespread adoption. We got enrolled with 62 DISCOMs under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana which will directly benefit consumers by enabling them to avail government subsidies when purchasing solar solutions from the company.  Overall, as a company, we believe in creating value through transformational change, with a mission to drive a green future through sustainable development and relentless innovation. Our eco-friendly solutions are at the forefront of the global transition to renewable energy and electric mobility, ensuring a sustainable planet for future generations. With over two decades of experience in the electrical and electronics industry, we have pioneered high-value solutions that contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable world.

What strategies do you employ to minimise the carbon footprint of your module production? What is your approach to recycling or disposing of end-of-life solar panels?
We prioritise energy efficiency and sustainability across all operations. Our manufacturing processes use energy-efficient equipment to minimise consumption, while our facilities are optimised to reduce waste. Whenever possible, we power our production with renewable energy, lowering our dependence on fossil fuels and cutting carbon emissions. We also source raw materials from suppliers who follow sustainable practices, focusing on those with lower environmental impacts. To further enhance sustainability, we continuously optimise production to reduce material waste and improve efficiency through advanced technologies and lean manufacturing. We work closely with supply chain partners to ensure they align with our commitment to reducing carbon footprints. Lastly, we ensure responsible disposal, adhering to regulatory standards.

How will the implementation of rooftop solar panels lead to greater demand?
When we talk about increasing demand, the attractive subsidies provided by the government have played a crucial role in raising awareness and driving the demand for rooftop solar panels. One such initiative is the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojna, which has significantly contributed to this growth. Expanding the penetration of renewable energy across all social strata is essential, and I believe this demand will only continue to grow in the future.

What trends are you seeing across Indian and global markets? How are you adapting to them in terms of innovation?
In both Indian and global markets, several key trends are shaping the renewable energy landscape, and we are adapting through innovation. Solar power continues to dominate, driven by declining costs and improved efficiency, with schemes like PM Surya Ghar Yojana and state-based solar scheme boosting growth. We are developing advanced solar modules, integrating storage solutions, and leading in solar-powered EV charging stations. Energy storage is crucial, and our R&D focuses on hybrid solar-plus-storage solutions. We are exploring green hydrogen opportunities, integrating AI-driven energy management systems, and prioritising sustainability through recycling initiatives and circular economy practices to minimise waste and enhance efficiency.

What are some of the challenges you face?
Like any other sector, renewable energy also comes with its fair share of challenges. My perspective is that these challenges provide valuable lessons and opportunities for growth. We believe that every challenge presents a chance to innovate and improve. By addressing them directly, we can develop more efficient technologies, streamline processes, and strengthen our position in the market. Whether it's improving energy storage solutions, or expanding infrastructure, we view challenges as opportunities to drive progress and lead the way in shaping a more sustainable future. We tackle them head-on, turning obstacles into stepping stones for success.

How has the PLI scheme affected/benefited you?
The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme has significantly impacted our operations and growth. It has enabled us to expand production capacity through financial incentives, allowing us to meet the rising demand for solar technologies. With increased resources, we have accelerated research and development, driving innovation and creating advanced, efficient products. The scheme has also improved cost efficiency, allowing us to offer competitive pricing and make our products more accessible. The expansion of our manufacturing facilities has led to job creation, fostering local economic growth and skilled labour in the renewable energy sector. Additionally, the PLI scheme has strengthened our supply chain by improving infrastructure and logistics, ensuring timely and reliable delivery to customers. By aligning with the PLI scheme, we are supporting national goals for sustainable development, contributing to India’s vision of becoming a global leader in renewable energy while reinforcing our commitment to environmental responsibility.

What are your long-term plans?
Our long-term strategy focuses on driving innovation and growth in renewable energy, contributing to a sustainable future. We plan to scale up our solar energy offerings, focusing on high-efficiency panels. Energy storage is another priority, with on-going efforts to develop advanced, scalable battery solutions for both grid-connected and off-grid applications. Sustainability remains central and we are also exploring ways to integrate renewable energy to regions with growing clean energy demand. Continuous investment in R&D will drive our innovation in areas like AI, and smart grids, ensuring we stay ahead of industry trends.
