INOX Air Products (INOXAP), India’s leading industrial,
electronic and specialty gases company, has flagged off India’s first
LNG-fuelled cryogenic tanker approved by the Petroleum and Safety Organization
(PESO), under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade
(DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce.
Leveraging a June 2025 amendment by DPIIT to the Static and
Mobile Pressure Vessels (Unfired) Rules, 2016, INOXAP has become India’s first
industrial gas manufacturer to achieve this distinction. The amendment reflects
the Government’s vision to promote LNG as a transport fuel.
The tanker was flagged off by Sh P Seeniraj, Joint Chief
Controller of Explosives, PESO Vadodara Circle. It is powered by LNG through a
450-litre Kryopower LNG fuel tank manufactured by INOX India Ltd, India’s
largest cryogenic equipment manufacturer. The LNG-powered vehicle is expected
to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 25 per cent, cut particulate emissions by 95
per cent, and deliver quieter and more efficient operations, while enabling a
cleaner pathway for long-term cost optimisation.
Siddharth Jain, Director, INOX Group, said, “INOXAP is
driving a clean energy transition in India’s industrial gases sector by
flagging off the country’s first LNG-fuelled cryogenic tanker. This represents
a significant step towards sustainable logistics while strengthening supply
chains for critical industries. We thank DPIIT for the progressive policy
amendment and PESO for the required support and statutory approvals. This
milestone demonstrates the convergence of forward-looking policy, indigenous
engineering and sustainable innovation. It also reinforces INOX Group’s
capabilities in delivering scalable green solutions for India’s manufacturing
ecosystem. INOXCVA’s LNG fuel tanks are already the most widely deployed in
this segment, and this achievement highlights the strong synergy within the
Group.”
Aligned with the Make in India initiative, the development
also marks a Made-in-Gujarat milestone, reflecting the state’s strong
industrial and manufacturing ecosystem. Both the cryogenic tanker and the LNG
fuel tank have been indigenously designed and manufactured at INOXCVA’s facilities
in Gujarat. The industrial gases transported by this vehicle will be produced
by INOXAP within the state and primarily supplied to customers across Gujarat,
supporting a localised, efficient and resilient supply chain.
The initiative has been enabled by proactive support from
relevant Gujarat State Government departments, underscoring the state’s
commitment to innovation, sustainability and industrial growth.
