Ingersoll Rand (India) Limited, a subsidiary of Ingersoll Rand Inc, has officially opened a new manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat. The site, which marks the company’s latest expansion in India, will initially produce over 24,000 units annually, with plans for further investment to support future growth. This development highlights Ingersoll Rand’s focus on innovation, sustainability, and regional progress. 

Ingersoll Rand’s new manufacturing facility in Sanand is one of its largest investments in India, and is set to begin production by the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025. With the current facility operating at full capacity of 60,000 unit per annum, the new facility will unlock additional manufacturing capacity, supporting India’s “Make in India” initiative. The move aligns with Ingersoll Rand’s global export goals and its focus on precision, reliability, and energy efficiency, all while staying committed to its mission of Making Life Better.

Facility Overview 

Ingersoll Rand’s state-of-the-art facility Sanand facility spans 65,856 square meters, with a built-up area of 24,527 square meters and an additional 12,000 square meters dedicated for a second phase of expansion. Initially, it will focus on manufacturing engineered-to-order products such as centrifugal compressors, refrigeration dryers, gas compressors, large reciprocating compressors (LRBU), and nitrogen generators for industries ranging from pharmaceuticals, electronics and semiconductors, defence, textiles, engineering, automotive, to power. The facility enhances Ingersoll Rand’s ability to serve diverse sectors with flexibility and scale, aligned with its multi-brand, multi-strategy approach. It supports Ingersoll Rand’s vision of growing and innovating locally while meeting both domestic and global demand through an expanding product portfolio. 

Sustainability and Innovation 

Sanand designed to meet the to operate at the intersection of advanced manufacturing and environmental responsibility, the facility operates using 100 per cent composting, and acoustic enclosures. Ingersoll Rand is committed to achieving net-zero operations within five years. It also integrates cutting-edge technologies including IoT-enabled monitoring systems, AI-driven predictive maintenance, and digital tools like System Performance Manager powered by Ecoplant and Helix. The integration of in-house R&D labs, these capabilities drives local innovation and customization, making it both a manufacturing hub and an innovation centre. 

Beyond technology and sustainability, the facility is poised to create significant employment opportunities for local talent with many more indirect opportunities through suppliers, distributors, and service partners. Ingersoll Rand is also investing in workforce development through targeted training and skill-building programs, nurturing talent across shop-floor operations, R&D, and testing.
