Factor automation, medical, traffic control are our target market in India

Kindly brief us about the products and solutions offered by DFI.

DFI offers a wide range of products and solutions. We started off with embedded boards which are designed and manufactured by the company itself at a facility in Taiwan. We offer edge computing which is the IOT solution for the customer. We also offer autonomous mobile robots, panel PCs, system-on-modules, embedded SBCs, industrial box PCs, industry 4.0 etc. We have developed a technology in which a single motherboard can run four different operating systems at the same time. So, hardware can save the cost of three hardware. We also offer fanless technology. See the purpose of a fan in a PC is heat dissipation, but these fans come with a liability as after 3-4 years they are required to be replaced in order to function better. DFI’s PCs are designed in a way that they dissipate heat automatically without a fan.

What are the industrial applications of the solutions offered by your company?

DFI offers waterproof and dustproof systems. Today, edge computing is quite important as it connects with sensors to detect temperature, vibration and other operations on the field. Once, this data is collected in the gateway (offered by edge computing), it will initially start processing the data and send it back to the user. People sitting in the control room can check the server and make decisions in time based on that data. DFI offers industrial PCs that give temperature support from -40oC to 70oC. This makes these PCs successful for outdoor applications. We have one such successful case in the marine industry with our product ECX700-AL. Other than that it offers applications in automotive in functional cars, defence, medical, gaming, energy, rugged etc.

What opportunities do you see in the Indian market for DFI?

We all know that 'Make in India' is going to be a big thing 5 or 10 down the line. Factories are going to make this initiative happen. So far, the labour cost is not high in India but I believe that semi-automated or automated production line is a trend. There are some benefits of machine efficiency over man efficiency and that is going to create a good demand for us in the market. So, the automated solutions offered by DFI can cater to the growing market of India. To name a few, currently, we are supplying our products and solutions to Tata Group, VVDN Technologies in India. We are looking to expand our consumer base, and we are targeting traffic control, factory automation, and the medical industry market right now.

Are you having any growth plans to expand operations in India?

We expect to have our office in India within a year or two. We are looking to provide all-over support from product to maintenance and service. We are really focused on the Indian market and our aim to visit India is to understand the needs and requirements of the customer.
