Bohmen Industries is focusing on developing new position switching devices

Kindly brief us about your company
Bohmen Industries is a home-grown industrial manufacturing firm which was started in 1979. We offer a wide variety of electromechanical switching devices which find application across the length and breadth of manufacturing industries. Our products cater to most generic applications as well as special precision manufacturing activities. Our plant is spread over 4000 ft² with all relevant test facilities in-house. Some of the most important industries we cater to are material handling, railway, rolling stock, elevators, cranes, escalator, textile equipment, special purpose, machines, robotic equipment, boilers, sterilisers, autoclaves, pharmaceutical equipment, diagnostic equipment, signalling systems, panel doors, security systems, fire, protection, systems, and many more.

How is the demand for your products? What is driving this demand?
Position-switching devices, popularly known as limit switches, are virtually a must in any semi- or fully-automatic machine tool. In the last decade, with India emerging as an important global manufacturing hub, and Indian equipment, getting exported across the world, our products have an increasing demand in the market. Equally so, the Indian Industrial consumers are looking for reliable and consistent quality from the vendors. We stand to gain more traction due to our focus on providing reliable products as per internationally accepted standards.

What are the USPs of your products and solutions?
Bohmen makes products that provide world-class performance, coupled with on-time deliveries, a variety of options; ease of retrofitting, and most importantly, economical purchase, which is an attractive proposition for the SME as well as the large-scale manufacturing sector.

How are you planning to step up R&D for launching new products and solutions?
Our research and development efforts are focused towards introducing every possible switching solution to our customers. 3D prototyping enables us to make rapid design studies and tests before going into actual manufacturing. Our long history in polymers is tapped into to explore the possibilities of re-engineering existing designs so as to allow economy without compromising performance. We plan to foray into products specifically meant for hazardous area applications very soon.

What are your plans to grow Bohmen Industries’ export business?
We are exporting our products to South East Asia, Gulf countries and Latin America. We are exploring these countries to secure long-term partner customers as well as trade representatives. We are open to business from the rest of the world as well.

Exports at present contribute two per cent to our total turnover. We seek to increase this to about 15 per cent by end of 2024, by increasing our media presence and internet marketing practices.

Are you looking to collaborate with global companies for the Indian market?
We are open to customer partners developing their technologies locally and tapping the market with them. We can support such technology leaders in their strong manufacturing practices.

How is India a potential market for global manufacturers?
India has always been a very big market for all types of products. The very size of our population creates valuable opportunities to be seized at every stage of the supply chain. Global manufacturers bring aesthetically advanced products which are bound to attract the industry. However, as the eventual markets are now international, they need to compete very hard on the price front, since Indian brands are doing that very well. Aesthetics is now an important factor for Indian brands as well and their focused efforts are paying off.

What are your growth plans for Bohmen Industries?
We are presently observing healthy growth post Covid and hope to be able to maintain that momentum going into 2024. Infrastructure is driving consumption. We are bolstering our manufacturing team to cater to the increasing demands. Our product focus is on position-switching devices, with a conscious attempt to increase the available choices.
