BMT turret & tool holder system will drive the future of CNC Machines

Incorporated in 1996, Sphoorti Machine Tools has emerged as one of India’s leading manufacturer of Tool Discs and Tool Holders for any CNC turning and CNC turn mill centres. In this interview, R K Purohit, Managing Director, Sphoorti Machine Tools shares the present status of the company by briefing on the new product developments and industry scenario.
Can you brief us about your company?
Sphoorti Machine Tools is a pioneer manufacturer of tool holders for any type of tool turrets on all global brands, made of CNC lathes, CNC turning centres and CNC turn mill centres. Our products play a vital role in holding the cutting tool to yield optimum results on the machining requisites. We are the right and obvious significant bridge between the cutting tools and the turret of CNC Machines. All the industries using CNC Machine is our customer. However, we being an embedded part of the machine, most of the machine tool builder are our primary customer and there are many distributors who shoulder the responsibility to supply our tool holders directly to customers. All manufacturing sectors are end users for Sphoorti Tool Holders.
Sphoorti has a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with high precision machines from Hermle, Mazak, DMG MORI, Hardinge.
According to you, what are some emerging trends in the machine tools industry in India?
Since tool holder business is dependent on the evolution of turret types in the machine tool industry, we always run with the demands of industry. Starting from simple tool holder for a generic CNC Lathe, we cover the entire range including slotted types, VDI and BMT configurations in static as well as live holders. Proudly, India is a big potential for all the latest global technological trends & advancements in CNC arena.
Could you please brief us about some of your new products/solutions?
The latest and more-fully is the upsurge demand of BMT type of tool holders. This is the most rigid type of tool holding on CNC Machine and being implemented largely by North America, Korea, Japan, etc, ironically, all other European Countries, India, Taiwan, China, are complying with the market needs. This BMT turret and tool holder system will drive the future of CNC Machines and will be good to visualise cohesiveness globally.
With automation and digitalisation gaining prominence in companies (i.e. your customers), how are you gearing up to serve your customers better?
Undoubtedly and in-fact compulsively, automation and digitalisation are the essence for any industry to grow, stay internationally and importantly competitive. We are on a constant path of maximising out machine outputs and greatly reducing all kinds of errors and in-efficiencies. We are becoming visible not only physically, but digitally to reach the global industrial community.
What kinds of new opportunities do industries like automobile, railways, defence and aerospace, electronics, energy, etc, present to the machine tools industry and your company?
There is no sector which doesn't need CNC machine in general. We are always highly focused to reach out to all sectors and it’s surrounding SME's. Whether new or old machines with these customers, our tool holders are a must to keep the machine running. The configuration and the changeovers of the components might change due to global needs. But, we will be pro-actively looking at meeting customer demands at any point of time.
How was the company's performance in FY23? What are the growth plans for coming years?
Our company performance in FY23 is not just phenomenal, but extremely encouraging with an increase of 30 per cent over previous year. We are on a war-footing to upscale the demands of machine tool builders from the West and our sales partners all over India and abroad. We are highly ambitious to lift up our business as we are having affirmative business indicators and strong customer feed-backs. We expect nearly 40 per cent growth in the FY24.
Sphoorti is on a speedy trajectory of growth plans. More than a mere expansion, we are meticulously looking at optimising the efficiency of machines, equipments, vendors, infrastructure and needless to mention, most importantly ‘people’. We strongly believe business can grow partially with the sources and significantly by the soul-hearted employees. Collectively, we are committed to become a major global player in the field of Tool Holders. To support externally, we are continuously adding customers from India, USA, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, etc. They are all highly positive and shaking hands with Sphoorti in its growth graphs.
