Bain Capital to invest in auto component maker RSB Transmissions

Private equity firm Bain Capital announced on September 17 that it will invest an undisclosed amount in RSB Transmissions, an auto component and construction equipment maker, to support the company's organic growth and M&A initiatives. Founded in 1973 by R.K. and S.K. Behera, RSB Transmissions serves as an ancillary unit for original equipment manufacturers, including Tata Motors, specialising in components for commercial vehicles, passenger cars, construction, and off-highway equipment.

The company currently operates 16 manufacturing facilities across India, with locations in Jamshedpur, Pune, Dharwad, and Chennai, as well as an international site in Mexico.

Rishi Mandawat, Partner, Bain Capital, stated, "We believe the auto components industry and the company are at an inflection point. We are collaborating with the Behera family to build a larger and more diversified platform."

Advisors to Bain Capital for this investment include Axis Capital, KPMG, Kirkland & Ellis, Khaitan & Co, McKinsey, ERM, and Alvarez & Marsal.

Bain Capital, a multi-asset alternative investment firm, invests across various asset classes, including private equity, credit, public equity, venture capital, real estate, life sciences, and insurance. In India, it has invested in companies such as Hero MotoCorp, Porus Labs, J.M. Baxi, and Quest Global.
