Welspun World appoints G R Arun Kumar as Group CFO

Welspun World has appointed G R Arun Kumar as its Group Chief Financial Officer, effective from May 20, 2024.
Welspun World, a $5 billion enterprise, is a rapidly expanding global conglomerate with diverse business interests spanning Line Pipes, Home Textiles, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, Advanced Textiles, and Floorings. Headquartered in Mumbai, the Group operates in over 50 countries, employing 30,000 people and serving over 100,000 shareholders. Renowned for its technological and operational excellence, Welspun Group holds a leadership position in Line Pipes & Home Textiles sectors globally, catering to major Fortune 100 companies.
Arun Kumar, with nearly three decades of experience in global and Indian multinationals such as Ola, Vedanta, General Electric (GE), and Hindustan Unilever, brings a wealth of expertise in finance, strategy, and business management. Based in Mumbai, he will oversee various financial functions including Group Finance & Strategy, Group Investor Relations, Group Mergers & Acquisitions, and Growth Strategy. Arun Kumar will collaborate closely with the board and business units to drive Welspun World's ambitious growth strategy, focusing on strategic planning, M&A activities, fund raising, treasury management, investor relations, and external stakeholder engagement. Previously, he served as Group President & Chief Financial Officer at Ola, Bangalore, and played a pivotal role in establishing Ola Electric as India's leading EV company. Arun Kumar holds a gold medal in commerce from Loyola College and is a Fellow Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, securing the 17th national rank.
